Im not looking for a converter site, i just need to know where to put the file and what the file extention needs to be? I already have the mp3 on my phone, but its in the video section and you cant assign videos as text.

Neither of the above answers work for me. You can rename the files 3g2 but they still do not show up under the Messages portion of the Ringers menu. Also Ventones does not support Virgin mobile. Which really sucks because every yahoo answer tells you to go to them for an easy fix.
I am able to set ringtones all day using the renaming mp3 to 3g2 method, but not incoming txts, vm, or alarms. A real solution to this question would be nice.

on your computer turn the .mp3 into a .3g2 and then add it to the phone in the music folder. you can then use them as ringtones.
